Participants will learn more about the subtle nuances of the sub categories of aroma families, and how to build this knowledge into a more useful identification pathway. This level of the programme finalises the aroma and sensory journey for the majority of advanced participants. It provides a deeper understanding of the e psychology of smell, aroma profiling and the intricacies of the science of smell. The influence of molecular structures are explored, showing the relevance of the aroma and flavour you are smelling or seeking to identify to the end product. The three days will typically include a visit to a distillery, winery or brewery to experience, in person, the production process at the heart of flavour development.
There is an examination at the end of this course and successful candidates will be awarded their Aroma Academy Diploma in Aroma Training.
Training Programme OverviewThe Aroma Academy Training Programmes are focused on the development of category specific (Whisky, Wine, Gin, Rum & Bourbon) Aroma Recognition Skills.
This training should be considered as the foundation stone on which your route to knowledge and expertise is developed. It provides the key practical skill to be able to identify, distinguish and articulate the aromas and flavours of the finished product which, after all, is the end result of everything you may wish to learn in wine training or spirits training programmes regarding the influence of raw materials, or their source, or the production process or the maturation process.
To take the Wine category as just one example, if you wish to further your wine education, it is a significant advantage, as you travel on that journey, to not only be knowledgeable about the key aromas and flavours associated with the main grape types, but to have the confidence that you are able to identify and articulate them in any given wine. In essence, we provide the key practical skills to complement the more theoretical elements of your wine education.
